Governor Schwarzenegger Appoints Lynn Daucher Director of the Department of Aging

February 6, 2007

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced on February 6, 2007, the appointment of Lynn Daucher as director of the Department of Aging.

"By 2010, Baby Boomers will represent a quarter of the state's population.

That's why it's critical that California continues its momentum in protecting our seniors," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "Lynn has been a strong advocate for California's seniors and I look forward to her ideas on how the state can better serve that population."

Daucher most recently served in the California State Assembly, representing the 72nd district. While in the Assembly, Daucher served as chair of the Committee on Aging and Long Term Care and was a member of the Budget Sub-committee on Education and State Allocation Board. Prior to being elected to the Assembly, she served on the Brea City Council from 1994 to 2000. As a council member, Daucher served on the Orange County Library Board and Sanitation Board of Directors, as well as, she was chair of the Waste Management Commission. From 1981 to 1994, Daucher served on the Brea Olinda School Board of Trustees. She began her career as a teacher for the Williamsville New York School District and a volunteer math teacher for the Brea Olinda Unified School District.

"I am excited that Governor Schwarzenegger has chosen me to serve aging Californians," said Daucher. "I look forward to working with the administration and to bringing my experience from the legislature to work on issues affecting seniors in our state."

Daucher, 60, of Fullerton, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Rochester, New York. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $117,997. Daucher is a Republican.
